Change Your Mind Freely: Introducing Undo and Redo
2026-10-20
Every serious user of personal finance software knows the feeling. You recategorize a batch of transactions, delete what you thought was a duplicate, or edit a split, and a second later you realise it was the wrong one. In most finance apps, that moment is followed by a slow, careful attempt to remember exactly what the data looked like before, and then rebuild it by hand.
Your financial records are too important for that. They should be easy to change, and just as easy to change back.
That's why we're pleased to introduce one of our most requested features: Undo and Redo in Maxim Money.
A Safety Net for Every Change
Undo works the way you'd expect from any modern application. Make a change, and if it isn't what you meant, step straight back to where you were. Changed your mind again? Redo puts it right back.
It covers the everyday edits that matter most:
- Transactions: Adding, editing or deleting entries, including complex multi-line Splits.
- Categorization: Reassigning categories and payees, so you can tidy up your ledger with confidence.
- Bulk Edits: Large changes across many transactions can be reversed in a single step, not one at a time.
There's no need to export a backup "just in case" before a clean-up session, and no need to hesitate before trying something new.
Explore Without Fear
Undo isn't only about fixing mistakes. It changes how you work with your data.
When you know any change can be reversed, you can experiment. Try a new category structure and see how it looks in your reports. Merge payees to find out whether the result is cleaner. Rework a reconciliation without worrying about losing your place. If you like the result, keep it. If you don't, it's one click away from never having happened.
This is especially useful if you've just brought decades of history across with our native Microsoft Money import. Tidying up years of legacy categories is much less daunting when every step can be taken back.
Small Feature, Big Peace of Mind
Undo and Redo are the kind of feature you don't notice until you need them, and then you can't imagine working without them. We think they make Maxim Money a calmer, more forgiving place to manage your money.
Update to the latest version of Maxim Money to start using Undo and Redo today. As always, we'd love to hear how it fits into your workflow.
