Payees
Payees
The Payees view allows you to see a list of all the payees transactions are assigned to. Quite often when downloading transactions from a bank or credit card, the payee name will include other data such as location, price etc. This results in transactions assigned to many different payees, when really they are all for the same one. The Payees view allows you to select multiple payees and merge these, assigning them all to a common name.
Additionally, when you merge multiple payees together, Maxim Money will generate a regular expression of the common parts of the name, and use these to match future payee names.
For example, if you merge together "Www.Amazon*204-620572, London" with "Www.Amazon*203-201679, London", Maxim Money will generate the regular expression "[Www\.Amazon\*20.*?, London.*?]". (The square brackets mean the contents will be treated as a regular expression rather than a pure text match). This means any future payees matching this pattern will automatically be assigned to your existing payee, rather than creating a new one.
You can assign a default category to the payee. This will then be used whenever that payee is assigned to a transaction.
You can also assign a memo against the payee. This is just a note on the payee, for your reference.
